Our Team
Ashley Lang
Dr. Ashley Lang wanted to help owners and their pets ever since she was a little girl. Growing up in Halifax she spent her time volunteering with many animal organizations. Now as a veterinarian she wants to help pet parents during the hardest stage, crossing rainbow bridge. Since becoming a vet 9 years ago and working in small animal hospitals she has witnessed the heartache each and every pet parent feels. This last stage of life can be more comfortable with a hospice and palliative care veterinarian especially being able to keep them at home right until the end.
Grief before and after the loss
As our pets age we start to think about the end. Grieving can begin even before our pets pass. This is called pre-grieving and it is totally normal. Before your pet has passed it’s good to decide how we want their end to be whether that’s in our home, in their favourite park or at the vet clinic. If we make these decisions before their last day, we can plan better and be at more peace with their end. After our pets have passed away and crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts will ache. We will shed many tears, but with the option of planning a peaceful passing, we can feel comforted that are pet past without pain or being scared.
What is Hospice and Palliative Care
Palliative care is the stage from finding out our pet has a terminal disease or illness until the last stage before death. Hospice care is when death is much sooner, and we are assessing their quality of life and keeping them comfortable until we make the decision to allow our pets to cross the rainbow bridge
Why choose Rainbow Paws
Dr. Ashley has been at vet for 9 years and worked in animal hospitals for over 20 years. She is hospice and palliative care certified through the international animal association of hospice and palliative care. She is also finishing up her certification in animal acupuncture from the Chi University. And she has a passion to help animals during their final moments and making it as comfortable as possible for both the pet and the family.
